Fingerspelling practice #3

Today we worked in the computer lab on the movie maker project with the student's QRF fingerspelling production tests. Students are to cut and paste a phrase or slogan using the letters from their fingerspelling video. They have until the end of class on Wednesday to finish.

Fingerspelling practice # 3

• Write at least 10 sentences using unit 1 vocabulary in English
• Underline the vocabulary words
• Double space the sentences so you can gloss in between
• Gloss into ASL
• Remember ASL sentence structure: Subject, Object, Verb
• Everyday expressions packet given out. Due at start of class tomorrow
• Showed progress reports

• Practice sentences Unit 1
• Partner work with practice sentences
• Student present sentences
• Grammer demonstrations: Topicalization and ASL word order, implied "I", and eye gaze. Focus on the correct 5 parameters of each sign and facial expression and body language.

Today we reviewed vocabulary for unit 1 and did the unit 1 worksheet from Signing Naturally. Both classes played "Who's Wearing" for the last 5 minutes of class.

Fingerspelling practice #2

Collected Parent signature slips for Curriculum night.
Showed students the FS movie of their class from Curriculum night.
Demonstrated IHS ASL website and the resources there.

Showed the weblog for daily classwork.

Worked in the computer lab and each student self-assessed their "The Quick Red Fox" fingerspelling production test. Student tests are on the student server.

Walked students through importing their video tests and manipulating vidoe files using Windows Movie Maker.
Students are to think of a slogan or saying (at least 5-6 words) that "is G rated" for a video file project.

Fingerspelling practice #2

Collected fingerspelling word search.
Distributed the World Languages Reading Log. Students record their reading for this class on it and I will collect it at the end of the quarter.
Read Chapters 1-3 in "For Hearing People Only". Take notes. You can use them on the quiz and I will collect them after the quiz is finished.
Completed tests and returned the grading rubrics for "The Quick Red Fox"
